This morning as part of the Takeover Challenge four children from Years 5 and 6 took over The Little Gym.
Jasmine, Cheani, Scarlett and Amelia put reports into envelopes, swept, created a lesson plan and became teachers for three sessions.
The takeover challenge has continued this week with Mrs Clark, Miss Murphy and Mr Kay taken over on Monday, Miss Whiteley on Tuesday and Mrs Stott, Mrs Willis, Mrs Cattrell, Mrs Johnston and Mrs Walker who were all taken over today (Friday). Not to mention the Little Gym as well!
Over the past week 67 children have taken over jobs in school and 7 children have taken over jobs in local businesses/organisations.
This afternoon, Noven, Kacey and Sophie spent the afternoon at the MAECare (Moor Allerton Eldery Care) offices. After a tour of the building they set to work making cups of tea and coffee for the staff and preparing the activity room ready for the arrival of the Knitting Group members.
They met and greeted the members, made them drinks, took the register and completed a range of other tasks and even so still found the time to make some pom poms and eat chocolate biscuits!
This year’s Takeover Challenge will take place on Friday 17th November.
It is a day when you (the children of Allerton C of E Primary School) have the opportunity to takeover the jobs of Mrs Stott, Miss Linsley, Mrs Willis, Teachers, Teaching assistants and even me, Miss Whiteley!
There will also be some jobs that you can apply for at MAECare (Moor Allerton Elderly Care), at Sainsburys and at The Little Gym.
If you are in KS2 and you fancy being Mrs Stott for the day or working on a checkout at Sainsburys or one of the many other jobs you will need to complete an application form.
If you are shortlisted then you will be invited to attend an interview and may even be offered a job!
Ask Miss Whiteley for an application form.
The closing date for all applications is FRIDAY 10th NOVEMBER.
Also four children took over Moor Allerton Library for the morning.
The event was a great success and the children enjoyed finding out what it would be like doing the adult’s job that they had taken over.
For more photos see the school website in the news section.
This afternoon School Council met and gave a warm welcome to special visitor, new School Governor, John Sherbourne.
Miss Whiteley had invited John to attend as he will be school council’s link governor.
The council representatives had several items to discuss please see attached minutes below.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday 2nd December.
Takeover Day will be taking place on Friday.
In total 71 children will be participating this year with jobs being taken over not only in school but also at MAECare’s offices and their knitting group (Moor Allerton Elderly Care) and the librarians at Moor Allerton Library.
Everyone interviewed last week should have received a letter stating if they were successful or not and whose job they will be taking over for the morning/afternoon or day.
Please make sure that you attend the Takeover Day meeting at 12pm on Wednesday (meet in the library) and that you speak to the person that you are taking over no later than Thursday.
If you haven’t received a letter and were expecting one please see Miss Whiteley.
Thank you to everyone who has handed in their takeover application forms.
Please look out for the interview shortlist (the list of children who have interviews), these will be displayed on the goldfish bowl window in the KS2 block and on the door leading out of the Year 5/6 block.
Interviews will be taking place on Wednesday and Friday. Please keep checking for your time and do not miss your interview!
Everyone will find out if they have been successful by the end of Monday.
