We held our first school council meeting of the year. We began by introducing ourselves and discussing what we hope to achieve this year as part of school council. We were all very excited to receive our school council badges and our school council notebooks. We talked about a wide range of topics from possible fundraising ideas to equipment we would like for the playground. Mrs Stott asked us to have a think about the Children tab on our school website and whether it needs changing. We ended the meeting by picking 6 charities that we would get the school to vote on and narrow it down to 4 chosen charities.

Last Meeting for the Year – 11th July
This afternoon the council reps attended the final meeting of the academic year.
We talked about what we had discussed and done over the course of the year and shared our favourite ones.
The councillors all agreed that they had thoroughly enjoyed being a member of the school council and having the opportunity to be the ‘voice’ for not only their peers but for the children of ACE as a whole.
One Colour Day Fundraising Event
Today, many children chose to attend school wearing a single colour. The school had never been so bright and colourful with every colour of the rainbow being worn. The children participating donated £1 in order to raise as much money as they could for the four House charities.
Miss Whiteley has yet to count all the donations but it looks like a lot of money has been raised!
Thank you to everyone that took part in today’s fundraising event.
Meeting – 13th June: One Colour Day Posters
Instead of meeting, school councillors quickly put the finishing touches to any of the ‘One Colour Day’ posters and then the reps with Miss Whiteley choose areas around school to display them advertising the fundraising event.
One Colour Day will be taking place on Friday 27th June. School Council and the children of ACE will be raising money for their four House charities: Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Homeless Street Angels, Elephant Human Relationship Aid (EHRA) and Make a Wish. They will be raising money by wearing a single colour to school (no black, white, brown or grey) to try and create a rainbow in return for a donation of £1. All monies raise will go to the named charities.
